Still plugging away on some baby booties for one of my three friends having babies in the next few weeks. August 2007 must have been a sexy month!

My sister, soon to graduate from Yale (go girl!) as a Nurse Practitioner, has been telling me about the medicalization of birth for years. I saw this movie and now I really get it. It totally changed my perception of the birth process.

The Business of Being Born – produced by Ricki Lake. If you are thinking about having a baby, check it out. You can get it from Netflix.

And no…Ed and I aren’t planning to have a baby right now. We already have our hands full at the moment! :~)

Just getting started on a Breton Girl in teal and brown…

And baby pants are done and gifted!

Find peace in creative pursuits.

Find comfort in friendship.

Been busy packing things up for our move to NC in a few weeks. Even so, have managed to whip up a few baby items for my three friends who are all delivering in the next month or so. I’ll post more pictures once everyone has opened their gifts.  Here’s one baby shrug for Little Jones in NYC.

Here’s a sneak preview of something for Little Texas:

Molly has been doing her yoga…

Finally, Elodie is knitted, blocked, pieced together and ready to ship to my mom in New Mexico…where it is probably way too warm to wear a sweater right now.  Elodie is very loose fitting – hopefully not too loose fitting though. Elodie on

You can also witness the new do in this picture.  I’m lovin’ it!  Boy will I miss Lia when we move to Chapel Hill.  She’s the queen of the short haircut. This is my favorite pattern from the Knitting in America book, and possibly my all-time favorite sweater pattern.  Instructions for hand-dying the yarn are included.  Yikes.kestral.jpg

Here’s a picture of the neighborhood we’ll be moving to in May!  Very wooded, there’s a babbling brook down the hill from our back deck…sigh… neighborhood.jpg

I’ve been busy jammin’ out to Jem Sweater.  This one goes out to Skein Cocaine But this one is my favorite…you know I’ll be scrapbookin’ everything we do!

Here’s my sister in the lovely Green Gable.  I’m so glad it fits and she loves wearing it!

Here we come!

Thanks for all the UNC stuff Ash!

It was a very crafty/knitty Christmas. Check out the amazing quilt Mom made for me and Ed:

And the sweater she whipped-up for me! I need to take a better pic to really show it off, but I think you’ll get the idea.

But that’s not all! My sister made these lovely fingerless mittens…

The hat I made for Ed’s mom was a hit – although you can’t see the pompom in this shot…

Ashley, Ed’s sister wants one too – but hers will need to be a tad smaller…

She picked out these two patterns from the stack of Vogue Knitting I brought along…possible gifts for next year.

Ed’s mom picked out this one.

Well, I almost finished my mom’s sweater in time for the holidays…

Elodie almost done!

Then I discovered this…oh, not so little problem…

A couple of HUGE holes in the running stitch and then the running stopped running! So I’m starting over. Other gifts, however, were finished. A cabled hat with pompom on top for Ed’s mom…oops! I forgot to take a picture before I wrapped it! Will post something later.

And these for Ed’s dad…

My goal is to have Elodie done for mom by Valentines Day.

And we have some big news: Ed and I are moving to Chapel Hill, NC in May! I got a great job there running their Art Library. We’re saddened by the thought of leaving our friends, our home B’burg. But we’re very excited about the possibilities presented by the move.
